5 October 2008, by I work for Spirit Halloween and because of Hurricane Ike last month a few stores were damaged by the flooding Ike caused. One store in Texas has closed and will not reopen because the damage was too extensive. Another store in Florissant, MO was flooded and has reopened. The rain came down like someone turned on the faucets or more like fire hoses. 8 inches of water along with mud and other debris covered the floor in our store in Missouri. It took quite a bit of cleanup and new merchandise to

3 September 2008, by The remnants of this once-majestic hurricane are now moving their way through our area; heavy rains are forecast for today, tonight and tomorrow, with the possibility of upwards of 6-7 inches of tropical moisture before all is said and done. Just the thing to make grass grow again.  To add to the mix, a cold front blew through here last night as well, and temps plummeted from the 90’s into the low 60’s. So, it feels wonderful outside, but damp. Beats the heat, however.

The remnants of Dolly continue to produce heavy rain throughout the southern Plains and Mid West this morning and will continue to do so through the afternoon hours.  The showers and thunderstorms will remain below severe levels, however the outflow boundaries from these showers and thunderstorms may spark isolated severe thunderstorms to the south over northern Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana.
