22 November 2008, by つい先程まで、私はこのベスト盤が出ていたことを知りませんでした・・・（汗）なんとビックリ！DC5の正式なベスト盤です。DC5の正規盤としては、『GLAD ALL OVER AGAIN』以来、なんと15年ぶりのCDです。このベスト盤は10月に英UNIVERSALから発売されていたようです。これは故MIKE SMITHの追悼盤なのでしょうか？それにしても全くイケてないジャケットに、何のヒネリもないアルバム・タイトル・・・（苦笑）DAVE CLARK社長にヤル気があるのかないのかは不明ですが（多分ないと思う）、肝心なのは外見より中身です。というわけで、このCDの収録曲を見てみると、1. 10 October 2008, by 今日は未開封のままであったこのアルバムを聴いてみました。まず、シールドを開封して驚いたのは、内袋が付属しておらずレコードが裸のままジャケットに入れられていたことです。さすが、アメリカン・クォリティーです。最初から期待を裏切りませんね（苦笑）この盤のレーベルです。ブート盤にありそうなレーベルですね（笑）この手の盤のマトリックスは当然手彫り風です。しかし、こんなどうでもいい内容のアルバムにブート盤などは間違いなく存在しないでしょう。さて、肝心の中身の方ですが、謎のグループPLAYBACKSは意外と楽しめました。ただ、それはDC5のどうしようもない2曲、「CHAQUITA」、「IN YOUR HEART」と比較してです（笑）多分、PLAYBACKSはアメリカのグループのような気がします。彼らのサウンドはどちらかといえば、ビート・グループというよりも一世代前のアメリカン・サウンドです。彼らの演奏は決して下手ではありません。むしろ、変にこなれているので面白味には欠けるかもしれません。また、録音もチープでスカスカなので、どう頑張ってもB級グループのサウンドにしか聴こえません。それと、B級グループの

4 October 2008, by 久しぶりのDC5です。このアルバムは未開封状態なので、まだ聴いておりません。これは一見するとDC5のアルバムのようですが、DC5の曲は「IN YOUR HEART」と「CHAQUITA」の2曲だけで、他はTHE PLAYBACKSなるグループの曲が収録されています。ジャケットをよく見ればDC5モドキのインチキなイラストが極めて怪しい雰囲気を醸し出しています（笑）DC5のUS盤といえば通常はEPICから発売されているのですが、このアルバムはCROWN RECORDSなるレーベルからリリースされています。本作に収録されている「CHAQUITA」と「IN YOUR HEART」は、彼らがEMIと契約する前に英EMBERから1962年にリリースされた1ｓｔシングルです。恐らく、この2曲のアメリカでの権利はCROWNが持っており、アメリカでのDC5人気に便乗して発売したのが本作だと思われます。実にアメリカらしい強引かつインチキな商法ではありますが・・・そういえば、このアルバムと同内容でジャケット・デザインが異なっているアルバムが同じCROWNから出ていたと思います。それもジャケットはイラストでし

7 September 2008, by すっかり忘れ去られていた（？）DC5のランキングです。今回は1967年から1970年までのベスト10です。一部例外も含まれていますが・・・（苦笑）まずは10位からです。10位　SHA－NA－NA HEY HEY KISS HIM GOODBYEベスト盤『GLAD ALL OVER AGAIN』に収録いきなり掟破りの一曲です（笑）これはDC5名義ではなく、DAVE CLARK & FRIENDS名義の曲です。しかもこの曲のリリースは1972年です。ちっとも1967年から70年までのランキングになっておりません（汗）ご存知かとは思いますが、この曲はSTEAMというアメリカのグループのカバーです。曲の良し悪しは別にして、ここで特に素晴らしいのは何といってもMIKE SMITHのヴォーカルです。少々クドイようですが、彼はブリティッシュ・ロックを代表するヴォーカリストだと断言出来ます。9位　A LITTLE BIT NOWUS盤『EVERYBODY KNOWS』に収録　（全米65位）この時期のDC5はホーン・セクションをフィーチャーした曲が多くなっていました。これもそんな一曲です。分厚いホーンの
