21 November 2008, by Raider haters are out in full force this week. Here in Denver, we don’t throw welcome parties for Al Davis and Co. We quickly grab all our blue and orange gear and head out to Invesco thanking our lucky stars that Mike Shanahan was fired by Davis 20 years ago. The Broncos already beat the Raiders (2-8) in their first meeting of the season. It was a Monday night game in Oakland that saw the Broncos rack up 41 points to the Raiders’ 14. A great way to start off the season! Since then, each team

20 November 2008, by Bringing back the Sleeper Watch after some pretty successful calls by Marc last week. Not all of these guys are going to work out every week, that is why they are called sleepers. But if one of these guys does go off and helps your team win, let us know about it in the comments. This is the most important time of the season for those teams on the cusp of the playoffs. A last second fill in for an injured star could save your season. These guys could be buried on your depth chart or floati

18 November 2008, by Jim Fassel says he wants to coach the Oakland Raiders. I think he should hold off on that before he hears my take. To make it work, Mr. Davis, the Manager of the General Partner of the Raiders, needs to really give the head coach power to be...head coach.
17 November 2008, by Around the NFL there is strong disapproval about the amount of money rookie players are making. In April 2008, Roger Goodell expressed his wishes to change the current rookie contract structure. Goodell flung an interesting idea of implementing a rookie salary cap, similar to that of the NBA. During a press conference with reporters in February 2008, Goodell stated that he and the NFLPA have met and discussed this issue and the owners are interested in following through with the idea of redistr
17 November 2008, by WILD, WILD NFL WildCat. WildHog. WildThing. Call it anything you want, but some form of the WildWhatever offense has stampeded onto a playing field near you. This latest NFL trend is confusing the defenses and entertaining the masses. The unorthodox offensive scheme, referred to by most as the WildCat offense or formation, is somewhat of a rarity to catch with only 10 to 15 of these plays being called in a given week. I don't know the exact position terminology and it would probably get conf

17 November 2008, by MIAMI, FL – Raiders running back Darren McFadden spoke to the media after the Raiders 17-15 defeat at Miami. Here are some of his comments after the game. On halfback option play that lost yardage: I held on to it too long. It was a run pass option and I felt I held on to it too long. Health after the game: I feel pretty good. Struggling offense: It’s very frustrating. I take part of it. I feel like, by me taking that loss of yards on the first play, I take part of it. Losing

15 November 2008, by More bad news for the Oakland Raiders, as if it weren't bad enough with all that is going on with the Raiders this season.Reportedly, the Oakland Raiders number one wide receiver Javon Walker will miss of the rest of the season with a ankle injury that requires surgery. The injury was sustained in the 17-6 loss to the Carolina Panthers in week 10. Javon Walker was quoted as saying:"I'm done for the season," Walker said. "They've got to put some screws in."Nothing, I mean absolutely nothing has g

14 November 2008, by We knew the 2008 NFL draft class was rich in offensive talent. Nobody, though, could have predicted what little time these youngsters would need to show it. It’s rare to find a rookie quarterback who has started from the season-opener on a winning team. This year, there are two of them in Atlanta’s Matt Ryan and Baltimore’s Joe Flacco. Wide receivers are supposed to spend their first season on the bench or as role players while making the difficult transition to facing tougher coverage. Ins

14 November 2008, by Although no official announcement has been made, and Coach Tom Cable did not mention it during his daily meeting with the media Thursday, reports out of Oakland are saying that Oakland Raider wide receiver Javon Walker is scheduled to undergo ankle surgery in the very near future and is out for the remainder of the season. Walker told reports Thursday that his season is over after injuring his left ankle during the Raiders 17-6 loss to Carolina last Sunday. Walker was not at practice, but w
14 November 2008, by So much can change within a year. Unless you’re the Oakland Raiders (2-7), who are mired in awful play once again this season and are looking down the barrel of a sixth straight losing season. The Miami Dolphins (5-4) on the other hand are rebuilding and have direction under new management. And after a one-win season a year ago, the Tony Sparano led Dolphins will look to avenge a 35-17 loss at home to the Silver & Black in 2007. OAKLAND RAIDERS On Offense: Oakland has gone nine strai

13 November 2008, by The Oakland Raiders will likely give the Miami Dolphins a bit of their own medicine come Sunday in the form of the “Wild Cat” offense. Sure Darren McFadden is a question mark with a turf toe injury and let’s face it, he made the Arkansas formation what it was. So far this season the Raiders have been one of a handful of teams who have tried to copy the Dolphins success with the formation. So it begs the question, has the Dolphins practices with the WC been enough for the defense to learn to
12 November 2008, by As silly as turf toe sounds, it’s an injury serious enough to keep running backs off the field for extended periods of time. Think of Josh Beckett’s (Red Sox) frequent problems with blisters in his fingers. Anyway, players always have the option of taking a pain killer shot to alleviate the pain and, if they so choose, play through turf toe. And no, it’s nothing like that behind the door sketchy scene with Jon Voight - Coach Kilmer - in Varsity Blues. Okay…I digress, anyway, McFadden is adamant
