20 July 2008, by Dan Kennedy doesn't think Lobel has provided enough proof for his serious allegation against Manny Ramirez (that Ramirez took a dive in an at-bat against Mariano Rivera to protest a huge fine for knocking down the team traveling secretary). [edit] Is that all there is?
19 July 2008, by I'll reserve judgment over the latest contretemps regarding Manny Ramírez. But I do want to flag an unsettling quote from Bob Lobel in Dan Shaughnessy's column today. It was Lobel, formerly of WBZ-TV (Channel 4), who took to WEEI Radio (AM 850) earlier in the week to report that Ramírez had (a) been fined six figures for shoving traveling secretary Jack McCormick and (b) infuriated management by taking three straight called strikes from Mariano Rivera to protest his punishment. Now Red Sox offi

[edit] Manny’s Final Straw
18 July 2008, by I am definitely a Manny Ramirez apologist, I tolerate his antics and stupid actions sometimes because he’s one of the greatest right-handed hitters ever. When he got in trouble for pushing the team’s traveling secretary, I thought it was bullshit, petulant and childish, but I wasn’t advocating throwing him off the team or suspending him or anything. I figured, as Terry Francona and Theo Epstein said, that the issue would be handled in-house and that was all I needed to know. Apparently, accord

[edit] Boston sportscaster Bob Lobel signs off for the final time
30 April 2008, by If you grew up in Massachusetts watching Boston sports during the 1980's like me, then Bob Lobel was a constant part of your life. Bob Lobel was the head sportcaster's for CBS's Boston affiliate, Channel 4. He finally retired yesterday after 29 years. If there was something big going on with any of the Boston sports teams I would tune into Channel 4's 6 o'clock news just so I could catch Lobel's sports segment. For awhile, Lobel was the Dick Clark of local sportscasters, he never seemed to age.
[edit] The Final Sports Final, Thanks Bob Lobel
30 April 2008, by Well, last night at 11:23 was the last time legendary Boston sportscaster, Bob Lobel, signed off the air. He once said, “thousands of sportscasts, and none of them went the way they were supposed to.” I guess last night began about the same. A little after I got home last night, Bob was sitting on top of the Sox dugout, practically in a puddle on Ch. 4. “I’m sitting in America’s most beloved ballpark, in America’s least beloved weather.” Bob Lobel started at Ch. 4 in 1979 and covered everyth
